Mansfield Works Hosts Tour and Presentation for Local High School and College Students

AK Steel’s Mansfield Works in Mansfield, Ohio, participated in Manufacturing Day on October 5 and 6. The site welcomed 126 students from Lexington High School, Madison High School and St. Pete's High School; 15 High School Seniors from Pioneer Joint Vocational School; and 14 adults from Madison Adult Education. Plant Manager, Ron Smith, and Senior Section Manager - Melt Shop, Matt Jacobs welcomed the students. They also shared interview preparation tips. Following the presentations the students had the opportunity to take a 30-minute tour of the plant.

Mansfield Works also welcomed seven students from The Ohio State University on October 6. The students were majoring in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science and Computer Science. The group had lunch, watched a video on Mansfield Works, and listened to AK Steel engineers talk about their backgrounds and why they chose a career at AK Steel. The group then took a 2-hour tour of the facility followed by a Q&A session.
