As part of the Northeast Colorado Manufacturing Sector Partnership, Logan County held a Manufacturing Day event that brought in all 5 county High Schools and an alternative high school program to tour 7 different manufacturing entities and technical programs at Northeastern Community College. In all there were nearly 150 high school students participating and another 50 community college students guiding their hands on tour activities in the Wind/Industrial Technician and Welding programs. Aside from the tours we also had several businesses join in sponsoring the event to provide a pizza lunch with drinks that featured the Industry Champion for the the sector partnership, safety glasses for each student to take on their tours, plus to-go bags with information on manufacturing careers, the NJC technical programs and employment stats, and some other items. As our first ever event it was a huge success. We are looking forward to partnering with more businesses next year to increase the tour opportunities and also increase student participation.
