Constellium hosted more than 30 engineering and robotics students from local Belleville High School at its aluminum automotive structures plant in Van Buren, MI. A tour of the prototype and production areas inspired an obsession with robots! Homework problems challenged the kids to think about the relationship between vehicle weight and fuel economy, and to relate geometry to automotive part design.
The students also had the chance to talk about careers in Manufacturing with Constellium staff from design and process engineering, materials, lean, purchasing and human resources. Everyone agreed that Manufacturing is a team sport. Thanks to all who participated for a great celebration of Manufacturing Day! A special shoutout to all the STEM teachers who are preparing the next generation of manufacturing experts...THANK YOU!
