STATE OF ARKANSAS
TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS COME - GREETINGS:
WHEREAS: Innovation drives efficiency and economic growth, giving American workers the tools to remain the most productive in the world and creating products, processes, and even new industries that expand employment and boost standards of living; and
WHEREAS: The United States has remained the world's innovation leader through its commitment to basic research, a world-class workforce, and a climate that rewards originality; and
WHEREAS: The manufacturing industry is a dynamic part of Arkansas's economy, and manufacturing jobs significantly contribute to our standard of living and economic vitality; and
WHEREAS: According to the National Association of Manufacturers in Arkansas, there were 153,700 manufacturing employees in Arkansas last year. This accounts for 14.56 percent of the total output in the state, employing 12.5 percent of the workforce. In 2015, the total output from the manufacturing industry was $17.94 billion; and
WHEREAS: We also recognize the importance of a thriving manufacturing sector in fueling Arkansas's economic growth and building a promising future for our State;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ASA HUTCHINSON, Governor of the State of Arkansas, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Arkansas, do hereby proclaim October 2017, as
MANUFACTURING MONTH IN ARKANSAS
across the State, and I urge my fellow citizens to recognize the importance of the manufacturing industry to our state's economy and the impact it has made on Arkansas.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Arkansas to be affixed the 15th day of August, in the year of our Lord 2017.
