Whereas, the Manufacturing industry is vital to the health of our City, County, State and Nation; and
Whereas, manufacturing is a cornerstone of our local economy, as Mcdowell County is third in the State for the highest percentage of the workforce employed in manufacturing; and
Whereas, the manufacturing sector help to sustain our quality of life as well as providing a solid and diverse tax base within the City of Marion and Mcdowell County; and
Whereas, Marion and Mcdowell County are home to various manufacturers that produce a wide variety of products and the City and COunty support all types of manufacturing and manufacturing careers; and
Whereas, public awareness of the value that manufacturers add to our economy is essential to the maintenance of good community-industry relationships; and
Whereas, the local governmental, business, education and workforce partners want to foster the participation of local residents in local manufacturing careers, eliminating the net outflow of workers for the County; and
Whereas, all residents are encouraged to take time to salute the contributions of manufacturers, and their employees for the positive economic impact they make in our City, County, State and Nation.
Now, Therefore, I, Stephen R. Little, Mayor of the City of Marion, do hereby proclaim November 2017 to be “Manufacturing Month” in the City of Marion and urge public officials, businesses, schools and citizens to take time this month to recognize the contributions that manufacturers make to the economic well-being, vitality and quality of life of the City of Marion and Mcdowell County
