EXECUTIVE ORDER FROM THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR

WHEREAS, THE UNITED STATES NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HAS ANNOUNCED OBSERVANCE OF OCTOBER 7th AS NATIONAL MANUFACTURING DAY; AND

WHEREAS, MANUFACTURING HAS A POWERFUL AND POSITIVE IMPACT ON NEW MEXICO’S ECONOMY; AND

WHEREAS, NEW MEXICO MANUFACTURERS EMPLOY 28,000 NEW MEXICANS; AND

WHEREAS, THE MANUFACTURING SECTOR IN NEW MEXICO EXPORTED OVER $3.65 BILLION IN GOODS AND SERVICES LAST YEAR — SOME 96.7 PERCENT OF ALL EXPORTS; AND

WHEREAS, THE AVERAGE SALARY IN THE MANUFACTURING SECTOR IN NEW MEXICO EXCEEDS $58,000 ANNUALLY; AND

WHEREAS, MANUFACTURERS THROUGHOUT THE STATE INVITE GUESTS TO TOUR THEIR FACILITIES DURING NATIONAL MANUFACTURING MONTH TO SEE WHAT IS TRULY NEW MEXICO MADE;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, J. RICHARD J. BERRY, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE, DO PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF OCTOBER, 2016, AS “NATIONAL MANUFACTURING MONTH” THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO.
