ROCKFORD, Ill., August 18, 2016 – Underscoring its longstanding support for Manufacturing DaySM, Shell Lubricants announces its exclusive platinum sponsorship of Manufacturing Day 2016, providing Manufacturing Day with funding and in-kind donations to power this year’s campaign to celebrate modern manufacturing and inspire the next generation of manufacturers.

This is Shell Lubricants’ fourth year as a Manufacturing Day sponsor and its third year as the exclusive Platinum Sponsor. Manufacturing Day is a grassroots effort by U.S. manufacturers to improve the public perception of manufacturing in North America by coordinating awareness-raising activities at a variety of locations across the country on October 7, 2016.

“The Manufacturing Day co-producers are delighted that Shell Lubricants has renewed its commitment as our exclusive Platinum Sponsor,” said Ed Youdell, president and CEO of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association. “They are one of Manufacturing Day’s most committed supporters and have been instrumental in helping the initiative change the public perception of manufacturing and spark interest in manufacturing careers.”

Manufacturing Day is an annual national event that brings together thousands of manufacturers to host students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other local community members at open houses designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers. Last year more than 2,600 events attracted over 400,000 participants.  A panel of co-producers comprised of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the Manufacturing Institute (MI), the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), and guest producer Industrial Strength Marketing (ISM) provides the centralized support necessary to coordinate this nationwide array of simultaneous events. The Science Channel is the event’s media partner and Edge Factor is the event’s strategic content partner.

“Shell Lubricants is proud to continue as Manufacturing Day’s Platinum Sponsor, marking our fourth consecutive year with the event,” said Tim Russell, Power Marketing Manager at Shell Lubricants. “It’s a true pleasure to be involved in a celebration that has come to have such a great impact on the industry. As the manufacturer and supplier of world-class lubricants, we’re always on the lookout for ways to help manufacturers succeed.”
