Over 360 York County high school students visited 14 different host manufacturers for a day of plant tours, lunch with employees, hands on opportunities, and meeting and hearing from employees and executives about real life application of math and science, and the career path opportunities available in manufacturing.
Manufacturers, students and teachers all reported that the event was a success. We thank our participating manufacturers for graciously hosting our students this year, and for working to create such a fantastic experience: American Hydro, Coupling Corporation, Harley Davidson, Herculite, Martin’s Potato Chips, New Concept Technology, RH Sheppard, Snyder’s-Lance, Starbucks, York Roasting Plant, SWF Industries, Tekgard, UTZ Quality Foods and Weldon Solutions.
Just some of the student comments:
“The most valuable part of the visit was getting to talk one on one with the machinists, and welders.”
“The organization was amazing and I really learned a lot more than I expected! Thank you all for everything you did to make this field trip possible for all of us!!”
“The most valuable part of my visit was helping me decide what I want to do with my life as I really like to weld. Maybe this is my calling card.”
“It was very eye-opening to know that everything I do in class is used in the real world every day.”
“The most valuable part of my visit was seeing women work at this company, truly motivating to know that women can do what people call a ‘man’s job’”
