Our 5th Annual ROBOTICON Tampa Bay event, held at the University of South Florida Sun Dome Arena in Tampa, FL, was our biggest and best event yet! By the numbers: * More than 3000 people took part in ROBOTICON 2017, including over 1500 student & support crew participants and over 1500 public guests attended the free public event. *Our Manufacturing the Future panel discussion was attended by over 50 students. It was moderated by Greg Serio, of The People of Manufacturing, with panel members representing Sonny's CarWash Factory, Solid Professor, St. Petersburg College Workforce Institute, Renaissance Jax and other. *A half dozen new sponsors and program partners emerged from the event. *Several new FIRST teams are being started, including one as a result of a rookie team grant awarded at the event. *Dozens of new mentors, and volunteers were recruited to continue building programs in the Tampa Bay area. *New support emerged for our Advanced Manufacturing & Robotics Center (AMRoC) under development here in Tampa Bay. *Rave reviews from participating teams at all levels *Robust social media provided great awareness raising and community engagement support youth talent pipeline development.
