Macomb County, Michigan - Coordinated by the Macomb County Dept of Planning & Economic Development

Located in the heart of greater Detroit, manufacturing is an important industry in Macomb County, Michigan. For MFG Day In 2013, we gathered area industry leaders for a round table discussion with business consultants from the Department of Planning & Economic Development to determine what we could do to help the industry thrive. The resounding message? "Help us inspire the next generation of our workforce to consider careers in our industry!"

We partnered with the Macomb Intermediate School District to coordinate field trips for every high school in the county. In 2014, 1,246 students participated. In 2015, there were 1,772 students who got to see the industry up close and personal. Our goal for 2016 was for 2,000 students to learn more about careers in the industry AND the educational pathways that lead to interesting and well-paying work.

As a follow-up, we will host "Exploring Careers in Manufacturing & Technology Expo" at Macomb Community College from 5:30 - 8 p.m. on Thurs Oct. 20. Open to students of all ages, this event will feature hands-on exhibits. opportunities to meet people with successful careers in the industry and an opportunity to interact with leading employers. Thanks to our sponsors, we will give away a personal 3D printer to one participant!
