The Franklin Hampshire Regional Employment Board (FHREB) hosted a “Manufacturing Day” event on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm in Easthampton, MA. The event theme was “Quality, Technology, Innovation.” We celebrated the diverse range of manufacturing enterprises in Hampshire County. At least a dozen Hampshire County manufacturers will be present to share information about their products, production process and companies. Participating manufacturers included ChartPak, E ink, Easthampton Machine Tool, Kanzaki Specialty Papers, L-3 KEO, Millitech, Quabbin Wire, C & G Machine Tool. Products represented from art supplies, to precision machined medical parts, high tech electronics screens, and submarine periscopes. Engineering and workforce development program representatives from local community colleges were also on hand to talk about training opportunities. Manufacturing Day was designed as an informal networking and learning event for students, parents, job seekers and members of the general public. An information-gathering “scavenger hunt” encouraged participants to collect unusual facts about each company at their display tables and submit completed forms for prizes, which included a Kindle Fire HD and a Kimbell Clock made by E ink, with virtual hands and light sensitive face.
