This is a one-day manufacturing mini camp for youth ages 12-14. It is being held in conjunction with the Skills USA national competition and leadership conference. Young people will have an opportunity to explore the manufacturing process from design through completion of a product which they will take home at the end of the day. They will learn about CAD design, explore how STEM skills are incorporated into the manufacturing process, tour an advanced manufacturing educational facility, and view CNC equipment in action as it completes some of the steps in the making of their product. Lunch will be provided, students will work with tools under the supervision of several of NBT's experienced camp directors from community and technical colleges around the country. Students will also have the abililty to view one of the Skills USA competitions and learn more about this prestigious international program. Students will be provided with safety glasses. They should plan to wear closed toe shoes - no sandals.

NBT introduces young people to careers in manufacturing through summer camps held at community colleges. It also issues scholarships to students pursuing post-secondary studies leading to manufacturing careers. The FMA is a professional organization with more than 2,500 members working together to improve the metal processing, forming, and fabricating industry.
