Event DetailsFacility Tour / Presentation
October 6, 2017
3401 Stockyards Expy
Saint Joseph, MO 64504
Students will be welcomed to our facility and given small group tours of the warehouse and dock operations, the engine/ammonia refrigeration room and our conference room to learn about the different career and business opportunities in our industry from our VP of Operations.
Students will learn not only about the warehousing, transportation logistics, and supply chain fields, they will also learn about becoming an ammonia operator. Ammonia Refrigeration techs are highly sought after, well compensated and hard to find. So hard to find that our industry's international association (IARW) is putting a focus on programs to build apprenticeships, on site training and other ways to increase the number of skilled operators available in North America.
Participants are asked to wear a winter coat, we are a freezer facility and the warehouse runs at -5 F all the way down to -20F in our Blast Freezers.

About Nor-Am Cold Storage
Nor-Am is a family run Public Refrigerated Warehousing company. That means that we'll store anything that needs to be temperature controlled until it gets to it's final destination for anyone who needs it. We have locations in 4 states and nearly 300 employees. We don't actually make or produce anything, we sell our service which means we need skilled warehouse staff. Our teams do it all from floor loading export containers with boxes of pork going to China to operating our high tech forklifts in our 7 rack high warehouse using video monitors to help them steer 52 feet in the air. For added difficulty, it's -10F in there. We rely heavily on our Ammonia Operators to keep our building cold and safe. We find our best results with training in house and sending qualified employees to industry specific schooling. We typically certify 1-3 operators per year. Most importantly, we treat our employees like family, our customers like partners, and we do what we say we're going to do.
