Virtually Tour our Manufacturing Facility! (through Nepris): https://nepris.com/sessions/session/detail/51455
We are an industrial engraving, etching, and imprinting company and we would like to take your students on a tour of our facility! We make plastic and metal tags, plates, and placards for commercial use. We also have a soft goods side of our business, which includes embroidered and screen printed apparel and accessories. We would love to show the kids how our machines work, how a job rolls through the facility, and discuss what it takes to work and excel in nearly any environment. For example, every job that passes through our facility, no matter how big or small goes through at least 5 sets of hands before it goes out to the customer, which makes having a teamwork-oriented mind an incredible skill to have. We can even go through the life cycle of making screen printed tshirts from start to finish!
1. What are "soft skills" and why do they matter?
2. Why are good process maps are so important?
3. How are screen printed tshirts made from start to finish?
We want the students to know that as business owners and managers, we look for more than just computer or trade skills. We can have a brilliant person on our team, but if they do not work in a teamwork oriented state of mind, or adhere to the PLATINUM rule (treat people how THEY want to be treated), there is little that they can do to further their career at our facility.
We also think that what we do, which is take custom information (whether it be text, art, or both) and apply the information to a variety of substrates (metals, plastics, fabrics, etc), is really cool. We have 4 laser etching machines, 6 rotary engraving machines (these are similar to CNC machines), sublimation equipment, vinyl printers and cutters, direct to garment printer, embroidery machines, and screen printing equipment. We would love to show your students how they work, and how we process more than 500 orders a month, never missing a deadline, and keeping a 99% accuracy rating.
What they will see on the tour is women running this equipment. We are a certified Womens Business Enterprise and certified as a Woman Owned Small Business. Also, they will get to see the set up for something really exciting: we are going to have our 20 year ribbon cutting that day, so they will see a lot of activity.
