Coinciding with the IEEE Photonics Society’s “Introduce a Girl to Photonics” Day & Manufacturing Day, the Photonics Society at UCSB encourages local women in photonics to participate this week by giving talks at local schools or leading a tour of your company. These events are for students and families of all genders.
The Following Events are scheduled so far:
1) Hands-On Photonics activity "Light-Pipes: controlling light" will be run at Girls Inc., Goleta.
To be run in their normally-scheduled 3/4th & 5/6th grade STEM classes. This event is not open to public.
2) Several women from local photonics companies and UCSB groups will give talks at schools in Santa Barbara Junior and Senior High Schools. Schedule to be posted http://ips.ece.ucsb.edu/events/women-in-photonics-week-sat-oct-1st-sun-oct-9th
3 )Women at local Santa Barbara photonics companies will give tours or presentations.

About AIM Photonics, IPS, and CSEP at UC Santa Barbara
The West Coast Headquarters of the American Institute for Manufacturing Integrated Photonics (AIM Photonics), the IEEE Photonics Society Student Chapter (IPS), and the Center for Science and Engineering Partnerships (CSEP) at UC Santa Barbara. Through the collaboration of these groups students at all levels are learning about the exciting and growing field of integrated photonics careers, the importance and needs for developing an end-to-end integrated photonics manufacturing in the U.S. and about manufacturing happening in their communities.
