About Education Matters EXTREME STEM Tour
Education Matters is an initiative of CVCC, developed by the college, local business and government leaders, and school administrators to increase the value of education and educational attainment in Catawba County and Alexander County. This program builds partnerships with school systems, community college, four-year college institutions, local government, and business and industry to provide a comprehensive community-based approach to integrate education and career awareness in our schools. The intent is to help students understand the importance of their courses as they work towards high school graduation, plus the post-secondary education and training necessary to secure employment in our community. Education Matters serves as the catalyst for the partnership, by bringing the business world into the classroom and the classroom into the business world. The greatest collaboration has been through the EXTREME STEM Tours and the EM Career Prep Conference.
