Iowa State University student ran Solar Car Project (PrISUm) will visit East Mills school to allow the students to have a close up view ot the 2015 Solar Challenge 1st place Car, and the technology to build it with an eye on the future. “In the statewide effort to elevate advanced manufacturing, CIRAS, Iowa’s Community Colleges, IADG, ISU Extension and Outreach, and ABI lead the endeavor to promote National Manufacturing Day within each of Iowa’s 99 counties.”

The East Mills Community School District is experiencing declining enrollment trends. E The challenge for the East Mills Community School District is to remain viable, while offering a strong and committed education for its students. Recognizing and grabbing opportunities to strengthen the community through a promise of a good education and inspired experiences will always be a top priority. Giving back to the community is an important commitment of Team PrISUm. Year-round, PrISUm members tour the midwest United States visiting elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, community colleges, and community events in an effort to educate the masses about renewable energy, STEM, and the importance of education. Team PrISUm reaches an average audience of 50,000 people per year. While on outreach events, team members explain the process of designing, manufacturing, and racing a solar powered vehicle.
