CMU's Society of Women Engineers (SWE) aims to aid in the promotion of female engineers within the field through extracurricular stimulation to achieve full potential in academics and a desired career. This mission will be achieved by expanding the image of the engineering profession, improving the quality of life of our community as well as demonstrating the values of diversity. Through networking, seeking experience from local industry, and showcasing student potential through community outreach, SWE is purposed to give students additional skills to further prepare them for industry beyond what can be learned in the classroom.

CMU's MesaMotorsports is a student organization who aims to influence the industry by utilizing current technology and resources to advance club members interests while competing in the annual Formula SAE competition. The SAE International Formula SAE program is an engineering design competition for undergraduate and graduate students. The competition provides participants with the opportunity to enhance their engineering design and project management skills by applying learned classroom theories in a challenging competition. The engineering design goal for teams is to develop and construct a single-seat race car for the non-professional weekend autocross racer with the best overall package of design, construction, performance and cost.

About Colorado Mesa University

Committed to a personal approach, Colorado Mesa University is a dynamic learning environment that offers abundant opportunities for students and the larger community to grow intellectually, professionally, and personally. By celebrating exceptional teaching, academic excellence, scholarly and creative activities, and by encouraging diversity, critical thinking, and social responsibility, CMU advances the common good of Colorado and beyond. The engineering program at CMU provides a hands-on, applied program of study for all engineering students. Small class sizes within the program offer students the ability to work closely with faculty and engage in projects. Students have some flexibility in their first two years to explore the different disciplines available (mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, and civil engineering).
