Mayor Patrick Madden, Congressman Paul Tonko and representatives from the education and business community will gather at the historic Burden Iron Works Museum in South Troy, home to the former office of one of the most important firms in the history of the US iron and steel industry, to announce the details of the first-ever Troy Manufacturing Week to promote careers in the industry and their importance in strengthening the local, regional and national economy. Scheduled for Friday, October 7 through October 14, Troy Manufacturing Week will include visits by Mayor Madden and local business and community representatives to educational institutions and various manufacturing facilities located across the Collar City, and open-house events for members of the public to learn more about manufacturing in their local community.

About City of Troy, New York Manufacturing Week Kick-Off Press Conference
The City of Troy will be working with Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) to highlight educational options available for those interested in pursuing careers in manufacturing, including a kick-off visit to HVCC’s Advanced Manufacturing facility on Friday, October 7. Troy Manufacturing Week will conclude with RPI’s National Manufacturing Day program on Friday, October 14, featuring undergraduate-led group tours through Rensselaer manufacturing facilities, including the Manufacturing Innovation Learning Lab (MILL), with a focus on Rensselaer manufacturing initiatives. Rensselaer will be partnering with American aircraft manufacturer Sikorsky for the fifth annual event.
