Invitation-Only Event

801 Broadway Ave NW
Grand Rapids, MI 49504

At our Manufacturing Day event at American Seating’s Headquarters and Transportation Plant, we'll host approximately 50 12th-grade students from Union High School by invitation (Grand Rapids Public Schools district) for a morning of tours and presentations related to manufacturing. American Seating, founded in 1886, celebrates 130 years this year; our company has been manufacturing on this same campus in West Michigan all these years. We're excited to show local students how manufacturing processes and products have evolved over the years. We plan to trace the life of a product - from ideation to production to installation - as part of our event. We will be offering students guided tours of our transportation plant facility / production stations (where we make the bus seats that are used in more than 75 percent of city transit buses across North America), and of our headquarters building where we have a museum exhibit showcasing our history as well as a showroom displaying today's products. The event will also include lunch and presentations by American Seating team members as well as speakers from Grand Rapids Community College and Grand Rapids Community Foundation.
